Art is a way of life, and the act of creating a spiritual practice. I am continually exploring ways to increase proficiency in painting, particularly with oils. I take inspiration from the beautiful natural world around me, especially since coming to live on the Olympic Peninsula!
As a life-long artist, I have experience in a variety of 2D mediums, including all forms of painting, drawing, and some printmaking. I attended the University of Michigan in the early 70’s and finished a Visual Arts Degree while raising three children at Eastern Connecticut State University in 1989. I have illustrated field guides, a children’s book, and published a coloring book.

Since 2012, I have been exploring a technique of painting known as ‘Mischtechnik’. This simply means “mixed technique” in German and is a term that was brought to popularity by Ernst Fuchs, one of the Fantastic Realist painters of the mid 20th Century in Europe. His students have passed his teachings on to what has become an international movement of artists using the methods for both oil and acrylic painting. Each painter has expanded and creatively met these ideas in ways that are mesmerizing and fantastical.
